UPDATE: Man who was shot June 15 on O'Neal Street has died

UPDATE: The victim in a shooting on O'Neal Street earlier this month has died from his injuries.

Shandar Lamar Weaver, 39, was originally identified as Shalone Wingate, but Weaver is his correct legal name.

ORIGINAL STORY: Chattanooga police have identified a man who was shot in the 100 block of O'Neal Street on Thursday afternoon.

Shalone Wingate, 40, suffered critical injuries after an unidentified suspect shot him and fled on foot.

Police responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. and blocked off the street between Cleveland Avenue and Blackford Street to conduct an investigation. Investigators could be seen entering and existing a home, while neighbors watched yesterday.

The Violent Crime Bureau is investigating the shooting. Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call he Chattanooga Police Department at 423-698-2525. Persons may remain anonymous.
