Grundy County school board member Kasey Anderson was arrested after sending text messages that led to the entire school system going on a soft lockdown Monday morning.

Anderson is charged with making false reports, Sheriff Clint Shrum said in a statement.

The Grundy County Herald reported public schools in the area were put on lockdown after a student was reported to have a gun.

A principal received information that a student was supposed to bring a gun to a school, but it was not clear which school, Grundy County Director of Schools Jessie Kinsey said in a statement reported by the Herald.

Shortly before 11 a.m., the newspaper reported the lockdown had been lifted.

"All schools have been cleared by the sheriff's office," a second statement from Kinsey read. "All schools executed their safety plan as written. We would like to thank the Grundy County Sheriff's office for their assistance with investigating this report."

Attempts to reach Anderson for comment Monday night were unsuccessful.

Anderson has previously been arrested for making false reports or statements, as well as resisting arrest, coercion of a witness, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and indecent exposure in an incident that stemmed from a domestic call to her home in Pelham, Tenn. on June 26.

Anderson was elected to the school board on Aug. 7, 2014, according to Grundy County election records.

She had not held public office before.
