An interim head football coach has been named in Grundy County to finish out the remainder of the season after five players last week were charged with attempted aggravated rape in what school officials described as a "hazing incident."

Nick Meeks will serve as the head coach with assistants holding their regular positions, according to a Facebook post Tuesday by Grundy County Board of Education member Kacey Kilgore Anderson.

Anderson said Meeks was named after board members met Monday and received advice from the school board's attorney, Anderson said. Former head coach Casey Tate was suspended in the wake of the players' arrests.

The Grundy County Yellow Jackets will host Sequatchie County on Friday and the team's last regular season game is Oct. 27 with the Smith County Owls from Carthage.
