A permanent memorial for the men who died in an attack on two Chattanooga military sites on July 16 officially will open one month later outside the military recruiting center on Lee Highway, and the public is invited to attend an opening ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, at the site, according to a committee of citizens who are working with the property owners and handling the memorial plans.
