The Chattanoogan hotel, 1201 Broad St., is starting the new year with a holiday celebration that includes dinner in the hotel's ballroom, a sports lounge, dance music by The Power Players and a champagne toast at midnight.

The party kicks off at 8 p.m. with the sports lounge opening for viewing college bowl games and check-in for overnight guests.

Executive chef Adam Roe and his culinary team will begin serving dinner at 9 p.m. in the hotel's ballroom. The meal begins with peel-and-eat shrimp, house-cured black pepper salmon, cured salamis and an assortment of cheese and salads. Chefs will be carving smoked prime rib for guests, and partygoers also can enjoy a create-your-own pasta station with a variety of pastas, sauces, meats and other toppings. Other selections include Macadamia nut crusted halibut, cranberry and sage stuffed chicken breast, baked ricotta gnocchi, lobster bisque and poached asparagus.

Pastry chef Alyssa Mast will add a wide assortment of dessert shots to complete the meal.

The Chattanoogan's outdoor fire pit will be another popular gathering space for those who would like to enjoy cocktails and conversation outside. At midnight, guests will celebrate with a champagne toast while watching television coverage of the ball drop from Times Square.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31. The event is $150 per couple. Tickets are available online.
