Raffling dinner with the president

With money being so important in politics, presidents of both parties raise funds in ways that do not always look good.

Now, President Barack Obama's re-election campaign is holding a raffle to raise funds. A $5 donation buys you a chance to win dinner with the president, he says in a video apparently filmed in the White House.

We're not sure that's an appropriate use of the president's official residence.

But we are sure that campaign finance is an ugly affair, no matter who is president.
