So what if they're tired.

This is the Lady Red Raiders' tournament, or at least it has been for the last four years.

The Baylor girls' basketball team played its eighth game in 11 days Tuesday night and won the Best of Preps tournament championship for a fourth straight year. This time, the Lady Raiders defeated Arts & Sciences 63-41 before a sold-out crowd at Chattanooga State.

"I think we relaxed a little better tonight, and we are tired," Baylor coach John Gibson said. "I told them early on that we'll hit some bumps in the road but we'll find a way."

The Lady Raiders found an easy road to travel Tuesday after escaping Meigs County on Monday. Baylor burst to an 18-10 lead after one quarter, then sprinted to a 37-16 margin by halftime.

"We were in a dogfight on Monday, so it was huge to get the lead and set the tone tonight," Gibson said. "We were dictating what's going on. I thought we were good offensively, then settled down defensively and shut them down in the half court."

In continuing with the Baylor routine, senior Kaleigh Clemons earned the MVP trophy for a fourth straight year. Clemons, who will continue her basketball career as a scholarship player at Vanderbilt, scored 10 points and had eight assists Tuesday. She scored 66 points in the three-game tournament to earn her fourth individual trophy.

Mya Long led Baylor in scoring with 15 points, while JuToreyia Willis scored 14 and Abby Hubert added 11.

"I have faith in my team and I know that they'll make plays, so when you have that kind of team, you take advantage of it," Clemons said. "We really picked it up defensively because it's important to our seniors. We love this tournament."

CSAS put up a fight in the beginning, then wilted away after simple shot after simple shot bounded out instead on in during the first half. Crystal Ealey led the Lady Patriots with 13 points - not nearly enough to topple the Lady Raiders.

"I was worried that we'd run out of gas, and we did run out of gas," CSAS coach Zach Dragoo said. "When you're a single-A team playing Baylor, we knew we had to play our A-plus game, and we played our F-minus game. That happens sometimes.

"The biggest thing is that when we're in district or regions we can look back on this."

The Lady Raiders will continue to have fond memories of the Best of Preps tournament. They've been champions for four straight years. That's 12 wins in a row.

"When we got a big lead, it was over then," Willis said. "When we got the lead, we knew they'd be tired and it would be over."
