Chattanooga City Council members just passed the final reading of its much-debated anti-discrimination ordinance for city employees.

The ordinance protects gay, lesbian and transgender city employees from being discriminated against or harassed.

The ordinance passed in a 5-2 vote, after Councilmen Larry Grohn and Ken Smith attempted to delay the final vote citing a University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service report that they say says the ordinance was vague.

Council members Chris Anderson, Moses Freeman, Russell Gilbert, Jerry Mitchell and Carol Berz voted to pass the ordinance.
