American Standard Brands announced today it will build its first new U.S. manufacturing facility in 25 years in Middle Tennessee.

The manufacturer of bathroom and kitchen fixtures and fittings plans to invest $22 million and create about 600 new jobs at the distribution and manufacturing complex in La Vergne, Tenn.

"We are pleased to expand our U.S. manufacturing base to increase efficiencies for our customers through an enhanced supply chain," Steve Delarge, chief executive officer of American Standard Brands, said in a statement today. "The quality workforce and favorable business environment in Davidson County made a compelling business case for us to select Middle Tennessee for our new operation."

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam welcomed the new investment and said it is part of the state's "business-friendly environment.

"We look forward to American Standard's continued success, as today's announcement brings us one step closer to our goal of becoming the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs," Haslam said.
