A Tennessee lawmaker hopes a new "slow poke law" would prevent slower drivers from cruising in the passing lane, thereby clearing up some traffic on Tennessee's largest highways.On the nearly 200-mile trip to and from Nashville to his home near Georgetown in East Tennessee, state Rep. Dan Howell found himself in an all-too-common situation on Tennessee highways.
He'd try to pass a slow-moving vehicle, only to find a vehicle driving in the passing lane that's traveling just as slowly.
"There are a lot of people who will get in the left-hand lane on the interstate, set the cruise and they never look in the rearview mirror," said Howell, a Republican.
