East Tennessee State will continue to challenge Southeastern Conference football opponents by playing at Georgia during the 2020 season.

ETSU will receive $550,000 for taking on the Bulldogs.

"We want to thank head coach Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia for giving us the opportunity to play one of the top programs in the SEC," Buccaneers coach Carl Torbush said Thursday in a release. "This will be a great test for our program, as we will be playing in one of the top venues in college football. It's a great opportunity for our football program and the ETSU community."

The Bucs and Bulldogs never have met in football.

ETSU went 2-9 last season as an independent in the Football Championship Subdivision, which was its first season since shutting down its program in 2003 for financial reasons. The Bucs played in the Southern Conference before dropping football and will rejoin the SoCon this year.

The Bucs are scheduled to play at Tennessee in 2018 and at Vanderbilt in 2019.

Georgia last played a SoCon team in 2012, hosting Georgia Southern. The Bulldogs hosted Appalachian State in 2013, but the Mountaineers were ineligible for the SoCon title that year due to their transition into the FBS.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Samford in 2017.
