No Chattanooga-area bowler will be in the finals of the TSSAA individual state tournament this morning at Smyrna, but Chattanooga Christian senior Jack Freeman finished as close as possible without making the Division I boys' final six.

Freeman finished seventh with a 1,525 pin total for his eight games in the quarterfinals and semifinals. That was an average of 190.6 per game.

Girls Preparatory School's Cora Long got close to the finals, too. She was eighth with a four-game 580 total after the Division II semifinals, while teammates Blakely Reid, Sydney White and Emmie Cobb wound up 11th, 21st and 24th.

GPS still has the team competition remaining, though, along with McCallie in the Division II boys' state tournament and the Rhea County girls and Tullahoma boys in Division I. Baker matches at noon EST today will set up pairings for the boys' quarterfinals at 3 p.m. EST and the girls' quarterfinals at 5:30.

Team semifinals and finals are set for Saturday.

McMinn County junior Zach Price was in fourth place in Division I boys with an 805 after his first four games Friday and then rolled a 203, but a 146-167-170 finish in the semifinals dropped him to 12th place at 1,491. Soddy-Daisy's Austin Humes was 18th at 1,418 and Signal Mountain's Adam Siegel and Cumberland County's Ryley Phillips finished 20th and 23rd at 1,412 and 1,344.

Walker Valley's Natily Haro was the highest area Division I girls' finisher, 12th at 1,406 (with a 243 in her sixth game), and Rhea County's Baylee Shipley and Stone Memorial's Hailey Crabtree wound up 17th at 1,364 and 20th at 1,328.

McCallie's Jay Moorefield and Jacob Benefield were 14th and 17th in the Division II boys' tournament with their semifinal totals of 679 and 645.
