Alabama sophomore receiver T.J. Simmons announced Sunday through social media that he was transferring and would enroll at West Virginia.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder from the Birmingham suburb of Pinson played in 12 of the Crimson Tide's 15 games last season, primarily on special teams. He did not record any catches, and his one tackle occurred in the home opener against Western Kentucky.

Simmons did show plenty of promise in April's A-Day game, tallying six receptions for 82 yards and a touchdown.

A three-star prospect coming out of high school, Simmons was the No. 58 receiver and the No. 9 prospect from Alabama in the 2016 signing class, according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He is the third player to leave Alabama since spring practice, joining linebacker Shawn Jennings and defensive lineman O.J. Smith.

Jennings announced this past week that he would be transferring to South Alabama.
