Davis named division chief at Erlanger Children's hospital

Dr. Wesley Davis has been named division chief of pediatric cardiology at the Children's Hospital at Erlanger.

Dr. Davis received his doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. After completing the pediatric residency program, he then completed the pediatric cardiology fellowship program at the Medical College of Georgia.

As a board certified and fellowship trained pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Davis specializes in general non-invasive pediatric cardiology, congenital and structural heart disease, and sports cardiology.

"Dr. Davis's world-class expertise will be valued at Erlanger Health System," Erlanger CEO Kevin Spiegel said.

COC names McCallie to head Haney House

Kristen Pavlik McCallie has been named executive director of The Children's Advocacy Center: The Emmy Haney House.

McCallie succeeds Shelley McGraw, who served the agency for 12 years.

"We are so excited to have Kristen stepping into this role. She brings a deep passion for the agency and the work it does for the community," said Jennie Hobbs, CAC Co-Chair of their Board of Directors.

Prior to joining the CAC, Kristen served as the project coordinator at the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence on many projects including, the Centers for Disease Control DELTA FOCUS grant, a statewide Medical Advocacy Project, and the Office of Violence Against Women's (OVW) Engaging Boys Prevention Grant.

McCallie has a Masters in Women's Studies from Southern Connecticut State University, where her focus was violence against women. She started her career at a local domestic violence center in Connecticut primarily developing, implementing, and evaluating violence prevention programing. She also worked on crisis hotline and in the emergency domestic violence shelter.

Elliott Davis rated No. 1 in internships

The accounting firm of Elliott Davis, which acquired Joseph Decosimo & Associates in Chattanooga in 2015, was ranked first in the nation for best overall internship by Vault.com, an influential source of ratings and insights for students and professionals.

Vault.com polled more than 12,000 interns from more than 100 companies and asked them to rate their experience and Elliott Davis got the highest score from among the 105 participants this year in Elliott Davis' seven-week summer internship program, Envision. During the program, students gain experience working on client engagements, participate in community service projects, and are involved in leadership development activities.

Zink is chair of excellence at Chattanooga State

Chattanooga State Community College Business faculty member Dan Zink was recently named the 2017-2018 First Tennessee Chair of Excellence.

Zink is director of the Hospitality & Tourism Management program at Chattanooga State.

The First Tennessee Endowed Chair of Excellence in Business was established through the Chattanooga State Foundation for the purpose of recognizing a distinguished faculty member within the Business Division.

Morning Pointe names new vice presidents

Morning Pointe Senior Living announces three vice president promotions at its corporate office based in Ooltewah. Each of the roles provides support to 30 Morning Pointe Senior Living communities in five states, as well as regional staff and corporate associates.

Brien Applewhite has been named senior vice president of asset management. Since 2008, Applewhite has worked closely with ownership in managing and overseeing construction, renovation and major repair projects.

The Chattanooga native graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in accounting. Prior to Morning Pointe, Applewhite spent 21 years serving in various executive roles for a number of local healthcare companies.

Lauren (Schilt) Lee, CPA, has been named vice president of business systems and analytics at Morning Pointe. The Poulsbo, Wash., native moved to Tennessee in 2005 to pursue her Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in finance at Southern Adventist University. She graduated magna cum laude and in 2010, she was hired full-time as a business systems analyst at Morning Pointe.

Lee has provided oversight of all major software system implementation, training and support for corporate associates, field operatives and regional executives. Lee previously worked for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney in New York City. She has been a certified public accountant since 2015 and is a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs.

Amy Lowry Clarke has been named vice president of corporate communications at Morning Pointe. Clarke oversees a team of creative and public relations specialists to support the company's branding, strategic marketing and image across all mediums and platforms.

The Roanoke, Va. native obtained her bachelor of arts in communications from Virginia Tech in 1991 where she was named communications student of the year. Clarke was an anchor/reporter of the on-campus television station. She worked as a field producer and assignment editor at KUTV in Salt Lake City, Utah before landing on air as a reporter at KPVI Channel 6 in Idaho Falls, ID. Clarke transferred to Chattanooga to accept a role as reporter at WTVC-TV NewsChannel9. She also held various marketing communications roles until joining Morning Pointe as director of corporate communications.
