"King of the Hill" professional boxing "under the lights" is set for Oct. 7 at AT&T Field, the hilltop home of the Chattanooga Lookouts. The event starts at 6 p.m. and features brothers Roger "The Hitman" Hilley and Joseph "2Fast" Francisco, Chattanooga natives and YCAP boxing program alumni. Also included on the card are fighters from the famed Kronk Gym in Detroit, former NFL player Tom Zbikowski, Canadian Olympian Zsolt Daranyi and UBF title-holder Winfred Harris. Those three are undefeated as pro fighters, as is Hilley. General admission costs $35, $10 for ages 10-under, and VIP tables for eight are available for $650. Suites holding 24 go for $800. Big groups get discounts of $30 each for 50 to 100 or $20 each for more than 100. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the YMCA/YCAP program. * East Tennessee State University quarterback Austin Herink from Cleveland High School was named the General Shale Southern Conference student-athlete of the week. A junior sport management major with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average, Herink set career highs of 26 completions, 284 passing yards and 318 total yards in ETSU's 26-23 overtime win last Saturday against Mercer. He was 26-of-33 and had the winning 25-yard touchdown pass, and he ran for 34 yards and a touchdown. His GPA last semester was 3.94.

* The Covenant College women's soccer team edged Agnes Scott 1-0 and the Covenant men topped Piedmont 2-0 in USA South matches Wednesday on Lookout Mountain. Kyra Duble netted a through ball from Anna Robertson 20:54 into the match for the Lady Scots (5-3, 1-1). The Scots (3-6-1, 1-3-1) got both of their goals after halftime, with Noah Lee scoring in the 53rd minute and Jonathan Barrett converting in the 85th on Josh Brower's cross.
* Tennessee Wesleyan lost 2-0 to the first-place Truett-McConnell women and fell 2-1 to the Truett men in an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday in Athens, Tenn. Yuri Parisotto scored from a Gabriel Gonzalez assist for the host Bulldogs (6-3, 1-2).
* The Sewanee men won 4-2 over Huntingdon on Tuesday in Montgomery, Ala., after a 2-2 tie at halftime. Baylor School graduate Kyle Johnston scored the first and last goals for the Tigers (4-4), who had a 20-10 shots margin and a 13-3 advantage in shots on goal. Hagen Clements and Ben Vaeth also scored and Alpo Sipila had two assists for Sewanee; Andrew Turk had the first assist.
Softball
* The Lady Moc RBI Club is hosting the RBI Fall Classic softball tournament Friday and Saturday at Warner Park to benefit the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga softball program. Besides the Mocs, who play at 4 and 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday, area teams taking part are Bryan College, Chattanooga State and Cleveland State. Admission costs $5 per day; ages 12 and younger get in free.
* Former UTC softball coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly have had their contracts as Tennessee's co-head coaches extended by four years through the 2022 season, athletic director John Currie announced Wednesday. They were working under contracts that were set to expire June 30. Their new five-year pacts combine for more than $2.3 million, averaging a combined $467,000 per year, according to a news release. "Karen and Ralph have built Tennessee softball into a legitimate perennial national and SEC power," Currie said in the release. "Much like the fans who regularly pack sold-out Sherri Parker Lee Stadium every spring, I am excited about the direction of the program and appreciate the way Karen and Ralph lead, teach and develop our student-athletes." The Weeklys have taken the Lady Vols to seven appearances in the Women's College World Series, with runner-up finishes in 2007 and 2013. Their Tennessee record is 802-245-2.
