The Baylor Swim Club's Ellie Waldrep, Cecilia Porter, Addison Smith and Jewel Gordon won the last girls' event of the 2018 USA Swimming Futures Championships at Cary, North Carolina, with a 4:18.10 time in the 400-meter medley relay Sunday. That left the club sixth out of 55 girls' teams that scored at least one point in the four-day competition. Smith had two firsts, a second and then on Saturday two sevenths in individual events, while Waldrep also had a first and Porter had a second and a fifth. McCallie/GPS Aquatics' Gabriel Johnson finished 15th Sunday in the boys' 200 individual medley.

* McCallie/GPS Aquatics swimmers helped Southeastern (Tennessee and Alabama) finish third behind Florida and Georgia out of 13 state associations last week at the Southern Zone Age Group Championships in Midland, Texas. Saturday on the last day of competition, McCallie/GPS's Max Ransom finished second in the 15-18 boys' 200-meter butterfly and led off Southeastern's 200-freestyle-relay victory, Ethan Bevill was third in the 15-18 boys' 200 individual medley and Grayson Payne anchored a second-place Southeastern finish in the 15-18 girls' 200 free relay. Dalton's Roman Valdez was part of Georgia's third-place 13-14 boys' 200 free relay.
