Lookouts drop second straight to Biscuits to open season

Chattanooga starting pitcher Tony Santillan struck out eight batters and allowed just one earned run in five innings, but the Lookouts dropped their second straight game to open the season, losing 3-1 to the Montgomery Biscuits on Friday night at AT&T Field.

Santillan, who faced 20 batters and exited with the Lookouts trailing 1-0, allowed four hits and two walks. Johenid Jiminian (0-1) took the loss after giving up two runs in 2 2/3 innings, and Joel Kuhnel pitched the final 1 2/3 for Chattanooga.

Montgomery took the game's first lead in the fourth inning when Brett Sullivan's line-drive single to right field brought in Jesus Sanchez, who had hit a one-out single and moved to second after Tristan Gray walked.

The Lookouts tied the game in the sixth on Gavin LaValley's sacrifice fly. Scoring on the play was Taylor Trammell, who led off with a single, moved to second when Ibandel Isabel walked and went to third on Tyler Stephenson's single to left.

The Biscuits got their final two runs in the eighth on Josh Lowe's RBI triple and Dalton Kelly's run-scoring single.

Montgomery's Tyler Zombro (1-0) pitched the final three innings and struck out three batters.

Chattanooga's LaValley went 2-for-3 with a double, the Lookouts' only extra-base hit among their 10 total. Stephenson was 2-for-4.

The third matchup in the five-game series is Saturday night at 7:15, with each team making a game-day decision on its starting pitcher.
