Experience the sights and sounds of 19th-century life when New Echota State Historic Site holds Trades Day on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This living-history event is designed to show what life was like at the Cherokee capital. There will be demonstrations in blacksmithing, tanning, stone knapping, basket-making, pottery, salt-making along with an herbalist on-site.
A Cherokee historian, flutist and storyteller will make presentations. The event will include a birds of prey demonstration presented by Winged Ambassadors.
The New Echota site is a designated National Historic Landmark and a certified site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
New Echota Historic Site is located at 111 Chatsworth Highway NW in Calhoun, Georgia.
Admission is $7 adults, $5.50 children. No dogs are permitted at the event.
