The Arts & Sciences boys' basketball team notched its 10th win of the season in dramatic fashion with a 52-48 victory over Chattanooga Christian at home Thursday.
While Chargers star sophomore Boo Carter scored 19 points over the first three quarters, the Patriots came back from a six-point deficit with lockdown defense late along with a variety of scorers.
Justin Brown, Jarius Cameron and Ture Gaines all scored four fourth-quarter points to help CSAS (10-2) outscore the Chargers 18-8 in the final eight minutes. Trent Grudzinski made a late 3-pointer and combined with Chase Pride for five long-range makes in the win.
Carter led all scorers with 22 points while Levi Lubbers (four 3-pointers) and Parker Graham scored 12 and 11 in the defeat.
East Hamilton 74, Tyner 63: Cade Pendleton crashed the boards hard for 16 rebounds, and the 6-foot-9 standout also made three of the Hurricanes' nine 3-pointers in the first half. Pendleton and Ashton Munson (nine third quarter points) both scored 17 points in a quality victory. Tyner received double figures from Nehemiah Bloodsaw (16 points), Keelan Jackson (14) and Rodney Henderson (13).
Girls' Scores
Whitwell 55, Signal Mountain 39: Only three players scored for the Lady Tigers, but it was plenty for Eric Zensen's team. Courtney Zensen led all with 25 points and made a trio of 3-pointers, while Addie Colvard added 18 points and Jamie Rollins had 12 as Whitwell improved to 7-4 overall. Signal Mountain's Aubryn McKendrick scored 17 while Nicole Hanson had 11.
