Erlanger Health System has named new leaders for Erlanger East and Erlanger North hospitals.

Martha Weeks, who has worked for Erlanger in various positions for 45 years, was promoted last year to CEO of Erlanger East and North Hospitals. At the same time, Dr. Monica Jones was named chief medical officer and Dr. William Crowe was named chief nursing officer for the two hospitals.

Weeks succeeded Phillip E. Jackson, who left Erlanger in November 2019 to become president of Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. After serving as interim CEO at Erlanger East and North, Weeks was named to her current post last July.

Weeks started at Erlanger as a floor nurse and then proceeded to management and leadership positions. Weeks has been a staff nurse, assistant nurse manager, nurse manager, metabolic and diabetes program coordinator, director of patient care and associate chief nursing officer at Erlanger.

Weeks earned her nursing degree from Erlanger in 1975. She then went on to earn a Bachelor's in Psychology and nursing at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. She earned her master's of health administration from the University of St. Francis in 2013.

She served as the chief nursing officer for Erlanger East and North Hospitals before being promoted to her current job. She is being succeeded as chief nursing officer by Dr. William Crowe, who has over 39 years of experience in healthcare, over 32 years of experience as a nurse and a decade of experience as a nurse practitioner. His variety of experience covers many different care settings including flight nursing, the Emergency Department, critical care, administration, quality, research, education, and advanced practice. Dr. Crowe earned his nursing degree from Georgia State University. He then completed his master's in nursing at Southern Adventist University and became an acute care nurse practitioner. He earned his post master's certificate for family nurse practitioner at Southern Adventist as well before continuing to the University of South Alabama where he completed his doctorate of nursing practice.

Dr. Jones, the new chief medical officer at Erlanger East and Erlanger North, joined Erlanger after working as an anesthesiologist with Anesthesiology Consultants Exchange for 29 years. Dr. Jones received her undergraduate degree at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Ind. before attending medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her residency for anesthesiology at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She also completed a residency in obstetrical anesthesia at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. In 2011, Dr. Jones earned her physician executive master in business administration from the University of Tennessee.

Erlanger East on Gunbarrel Road in East Brainerd has 135 licensed beds, while Erlanger North in Red Bank operates 22 licensed hospital beds.
