Trump incited mob in disgraceful display

"We love you. You're very special. Go home."

With the whole world watching, that is the message Donald Trump chose to give to the thousands of right-wing terrorists who barreled their way into the Capitol, flying Confederate flags and wearing shirts saying "Civil War" and "Camp Auschwitz."

This isn't a surprise - Trump spent years inciting his base to violence while the Republican Party simply looked on. And now we're paying the price for it.

Saying this is a disgrace to our nation and our democracy is an understatement.

Trump, GOP enablers should resign now

What a sad, sad day for democracy in America. President Trump and members of Congress who enabled and abetted him in maintaining he won the election should immediately resign or be removed from office.

The rioting Trump supporters who can be identified should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Happy to see Trump 'slink' away on Jan. 20

How does a citizen view the riots in our nation's Capitol and know how to take a meaningful stand to say: Enough is enough?

Donald Trump, whom I can't name as my president, has sown such seeds of distrust by his maniacal refusal to accept the election's results that his loyal puppets are willing to riot and destroy one of our nation's iconic buildings, disrupt the constitutional process and cause a woman's death.

Trump is fully responsible for the actions of his sheep-like followers, whom he stoked up in a rally before they gathered at the Capitol building. His persistent and false claims of voter fraud are nothing more than the delusions of a child whose ego is too big to accept that not everyone loves him.

He has been a disastrous president, alienating our traditional allies around the world while embracing despots, botching the handling of the pandemic, sowing discord within the country by embracing white supremacy, etc. He's incapable of telling the truth, self-absorbed and never takes responsibility for his actions. I could keep going ...

I can't wait for Jan. 20 to see him slink away, sulking. I hope he never returns.

Russia must be blackmailing Trump

Our nation has never experienced a president like Trump. He's delusional and psychotic. He plays golf while Americans die every 30 seconds from a virus he had the power to control.

His silence on Russia's greatest cyber attack against us, putting our national security in jeopardy, suggests Russia is blackmailing him.

Trump hijacked the GOP. It is now a cult doing his bidding. He requires loyalty; that's what dictators do. Republicans appear as much afraid of him as did the communists of Khrushchev. Such cowards.

He lost the most secure election in history but refused to concede, and won't gracefully leave the White House.

Every Republican election official said he lost. Further, he lost 50+ court battles and twice at the Supreme Court. This was our first election when windows were boarded up on Election Day, and electors required state trooper escorts to vote in the Electoral College.

That's the America that deranged Trump created. Our nation is close to losing our democracy. Our salvation will be that those drinking the Kool-Aid will diminish in number.
