Produced by Chattanooga Presents, the 34-year-old Nightfall is Chattanooga's longest-running outdoor live music series. It will kick off June 4, a month later than usual, and include a full 15-show schedule beginning with the finals of the Road to Nightfall contest. The June 4 show will feature the three finalists. The contest has been held virtually to this point.
Typically that contest features local acts competing for the right to headline one night of the series. The remaining three shows in June will also serve to highlight local talent, as a way to celebrate and support Chattanooga bands. The winner will earn a cash prize as well as the chance to perform a longer set on a date later in the season.
These June dates will include a co-bill of two different Chattanooga acts each night:
* June 11: Ben Van Winkle and The Figment with Emily Kate Boyd Band
* June 18: Rick Rushing with Davey Smith
* June 25: PrinceT with Ogya
Starting in July, Nightfall will return to its regular format of having a local opening band, followed by a national headliner of various genres. This schedule includes:
* July 2: The War and Treaty with Kimmie J. Soul
* July 9: 2021 Road to Nightfall winner (TBD) with the 2020 Road To Nightfall winner, We Are Us
* July 16: Lee Roy Parnell with Rachel McIntyre Smith
* July 23: Joanna Connor with Rye Baby
* July 30: Po' Ramblin Boys with New Dismembered Tennesseans
* Aug. 6: Nth Power with NuBreed Band
* Aug. 13: Hogslop String with The Other Brothers
* Aug. 20: Radio Free Honduras with Telemonster
* Aug. 27: Bonnie Bishop with Brandy Robinson
* Sept. 3: Waylon Thibodeaux with Mojo Whiskey
* Sept. 10: SUSU with Stereofeet
Shows begin at 7 p.m. and end at about 9:30 p.m.
The live performances are primarily held on the Miller Plaza stage, but activities such as outdoor games, food trucks, artisan vendors and family attractions on the grassy lawn are scheduled to take place at the renovated Miller Park.
