Politicians have sold souls to high bidder

When will the American public decide it has had enough of the gun violence plaguing our country and the partisan ways of our politicians? What will it take to get people involved, caring about what leadership is or isn't doing by holding them responsible. The best way is to research (from multiple sources) what candidates stand for, see if their values match yours and vote.

Politicians have sold their souls to the highest bidder. Sen. Cruz, Gov. Abbott and Trump attended the NRA convention in Houston, despite a mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Are these people tone deaf? I cannot express how vile, ignorant and narcissistic their attendance there was to victims and their families. Each time we have a mass shooting, the politicians say, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families!" Does anyone really believe politicians care about you?

We as a people no longer hold our democracy dear; no longer are we the strong, stoic people we once were. As the older generations die, what will become of our country? Young adults will need to step up; are they being prepared in schools for this task? Wake up, America, before democracy is gone!

All gun owners have blood on their hands

Once again, innocent lives are sacrificed on the almighty altar of the Second Amendment. Hands are wrung, and prayers offered up, and then we go along doing nothing to try and stop this madness until the next massacre hits the news.

And who is to blame for this? Well, the monster who pulled the trigger, obviously, but what about governors and state and federal legislators who have gutted almost all constraints on gun ownership, who actually encourage their constituents to go out and buy even more weaponry? And the NRA and the gun lobby in their shameless, never-ending quest for money and power? They surely bear a load of blame.

But I suggest that the above, guilty as they are, are not the real culprits. No, the real culprits are those who insist on voting to keep these insidious people in power, who continue to fund the NRA, and who parade around Walmart with a Glock on their hip to show how important they think they are.

So the real blame, gun owners is you. And every time another innocent is slaughtered, look at your hands because there is blood on them.

Online gun ad tragically tells it all

If there was ever any doubt about the gun-related evil that abounds in America, consider this brief story published May 26 by The Washington Post:

"Gunmaker Daniel Defense, located near Savannah, Ga., posted online an advertising photo of a toddler holding one of its AR-15-style rifles just days before one of its firearms was used in the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Tex.

"The photo shows a young boy holding the rifle on his lap, along with the caption: 'Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.'

"That is a reference to a Bible verse: Proverbs 22:6.

"The caption ends with an emoji of two hands held together in prayer.

"In the photo, the boy is sitting cross-legged and looking down at the firearm on his lap. The ammunition clip is lying separately on the ground. He is wearing a T-shirt that reads, '#Rascal.'

"Daniel Defense posted the image on May 16.

"The next week, a gunman used a Daniel Defense DDM4 Rifle to kill 19 children and two adults at a school in Texas, authorities said."
