The new OddStory Brewing Co. location on Central Avenue is one step closer to opening after being approved for a beer permit Thursday during a meeting of the Chattanooga Beer & Wrecker Board.

Co-owner Jay Boyd said the new location, which will have a much larger parking lot, outdoor space, full kitchen and brewing area, will open sometime in October. The old space at 336 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. will go dormant beginning Saturday following an all-day Octoberfest celebration. It will be repurposed, his father and co-owner Bryan Boyd told the board during the meeting.

The younger Boyd told the Times Free Press following the meeting that the new building near the corner of Central and Main Street will have 2.5 times the building space, plus 10,000 square feet of parking and 10,000 square feet of outdoor space with some covered with stone pavers and some covered with indoor-outdoor carpeting.

His father said during the meeting it will be kid and dog friendly. He told the Times Free Press in January that the outdoor space will include a covered patio with eight taps and an area for dogs. The indoor space will have 24 taps serving beer and curated cocktails. There will also be a stage for live music.

In other action, the board also approved changes-in-ownership-permit applications for Exile Off Main Street for new owners Matthew McPeak, Michael Dolan, Freddy Schwenk, Scott Baird and Matthew Buttel. Dolan told the board several improvements in the location have been made already and more are planned for the location on Rossville Avenue.

The board also approved a change in ownership and name permit for Michael and Suzanne Hardin, Robert Thomas and Juan Cuba at Westbound Honky-Tonk on Station Street.

The beer board also approved the applications for the 3 Sisters bluegrass Festival, TN Extreme Hike, a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Crabtree Farms Plant Sale and 4 Courses and Supper Club/ Whiskey Festival presented by RISE Chattanooga.
