The box-office success of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" has widened the spotlight to other favorite films by female directors. CenturyLink Quote, the sales agent of the CenturyLink telecommunications company, has run the numbers, based on online searches, to determine each state's most popular film directed by a woman (not including "Barbie"). The leader, topping searches in 17 states, including Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama, is 2017's "Wonder Woman," helmed by Patty Jenkins, the first woman to direct a film with a budget greater than $100 million. Other films that made the list: "The Matrix" (12 states), "American Psycho" (eight), "Clueless" (three), "A League of Their Own," "Little Women" and "Turning Red" (two states each) and "Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey," "Sleepless in Seattle," "The Hurt Locker," "The Power of the Dog" and "The Woman King" (each with one state).
