Good to know

Merchoid.com, an online gift store for geeks, has released the results of a poll identifying the worst Christmas gifts ever received. Topping the list was a diet book or membership to a weight-loss program. Also among the worst "you shouldn't have" gifts were cleaning supplies or a vacuum cleaner, self-help books the recipient didn't ask for, personal hygiene products (such as deodorant or mouthwash), a donation made to a cause the recipient doesn't support, bulk packages of something mundane (such as socks or batteries), a book on improving social skills or manners, a cookbook for beginners and office supplies. Of the 3,000 people polled, two-thirds (65%) said they'd received a gift that led to a long-lasting change in their perception of the giver.
