Defense has been the name of the game for the Notre Dame boys' basketball team in the postseason.

The Fighting Irish won their second straight Division II-A District 2 championship over Boyd Buchanan with an immaculate showing defensively at home in Friday's 62-26 victory.

Jonathan Adams' team held the rival Buccaneers to single-digit points in every quarter as the Irish built a 47-24 lead through three quarters. Seven Notre Dame players scored a half-dozen points, while Gabe Flowers and Cole McCormick led the way with 11 points apiece.

Notre Dame (17-8) has allowed just 50 points in two postseason victories, and the Irish have held their opposition to fewer than 30 points in four of their past eight games.

Boyd Buchanan, with a state ranking of No. 3 in DII-A, fell to 23-6.

In the girls' championship game, district MVP and senior guard Dani Reeves led Boyd Buchanan (18-6) to a 47-39 victory over Silverdale Baptist Academy.
