States that have wagered the most on sports betting since the ban was lifted in 2018

In 2018, the Supreme Court removed the federal ban on state-authorized sports betting, allowing states to legalize it if they choose. Since then, 30 states and the District of Columbia have moved legislation to allow sports betting, according to the American Gaming Association.

Last year, sports betting jumped by 70% to $44 billion, including $2.9 billion in Tennessee, which went live with sports betting in 2020 and has 13 different apps available for betting. Research by Sportsbook Review calculated the states that have spent the most on sports bets since 2018:
