Here's what the Chattanooga area has to offer this week.

Listen up

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology has two free webinars that focus on the importance of sound next week. The first, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, will mark the milestone of the Macaulay Library archiving 2 million recordings of sounds from the natural world. The webinar will explore the diverse uses of the recordings for research, conservation, education and public engagement, and offer information for contributing to the archive. The second, at noon Wednesday, will talk to researchers using sound from elephants, whales and porpoises to protect ecosystems around the globe from habitat loss, overhunting and climate change. Register for these and other programs at birds.cornell.edu/home/virtual-experiences.
