There's plenty of opportunities to celebrate International Women's Day and Women's History Month this weekend with mountain bike rides, live performances and more. The Chattanooga River Market is opening for spring break weekends, and the Chattanooga Public Library Foundation is hosting its quarterly book sale with prices starting at $1. Here's this weekend's chronology.

ARTS

— Photographic Society of Chattanooga continues its spring show at the Gallery at Blackwell, 71 Eastgate Loop. Society members will have their work displayed, and prints will be available for purchase. Gallery hours are 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The exhibition will run through May 3. — North River Civic Center, 1009 Executive Drive, Suite 102, Hixson, continues its exhibition, "Fine Art of the West," featuring the works of artist David Fishman that depict "the energy and emotion of the timeless American West." — Townsend Atelier, 301 E. 11th St., continues its exhibition, "Resonance," featuring new paintings on aluminum, paper, panel and canvas by Ukrainian-born, Chattanooga-based artist Elena Burykina. — Creative Arts Guild, 520 W. Waugh St., Dalton, continues its Student Arts Expo, in honor of Arts in Education Month, with works by public, private and home school students in Dalton and Whitfield and Murray counties. — Association for Visual Arts, 30 Frazier Ave., continues its exhibition, "Nature's Generosity: Wilderness Photography Foundation," featuring the works of 46 nature photographers that showcase the beauty and diversity of plant and animal life. — In-Town Gallery, 26A Frazier Ave., will host an opening reception for its exhibition, "Enchanted Treescapes," from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. The exhibition features the photographic works of Anh Bao Tran-Le and celebrates the beauty and majestic presence of trees. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. — Institute of Contemporary Art will host an artist talk at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Benwood Auditorium of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Engineering, Math and Computer Science building, 735 Vine St. Artist Adam Parker Smith will discuss his "Sarcophagi" series, displayed on Vine Street across from the University Center; the works will be on display through May 17. The gallery, 752 Vine St., also continues its exhibition, "The Dutch House," featuring works by artist Becky Suss inspired by Pulitzer Prize finalist Ann Patchett's 2019 novel of the same name. — ClearStory Arts, 1673 S. Holtzclaw Ave., will host the exhibition, "Empower 40 and Beyond," by Emerald Dove Photography, from 6-9 p.m. Friday. The sequel to the 2021 sci-fi film "Dune" continues the journey of Paul Atreides, portrayed by Timothée Chalamet, as he works with Chani, portrayed by Zendaya, and the Fremen of the desert planet Arrakis to fight against the empire that destroyed the House of Atreides.
