GREENEVILLE, Tenn. East Tennessee high school students will have an opportunity to see the state Supreme Court at work when the justices meet to hear cases at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville.

On Wednesday, students from eleven schools in four counties will hear oral arguments in a case they have studied in advance with the help of local attorneys. The students have also been instructed on how the court system works and on legal terminology.

The Supreme Court typically hears cases in Nashville, Knoxville or Jackson, but several times each year, it travels to another community as part of Supreme Court Advancing Legal Education for Students.

According to the court, more than 25,000 students from 460 high schools and colleges have participated in the program since it began in 1995.
