Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk says Sofonias Perez Perez shot a man in the back of the leg Thursday during an argument about property ownership.

According to a release from Sisk this morning, Brandon Eugene Palmer arrived at a house in the 100 block of Mack Smith Road on Thursday afternoon. An argument about some who owned something ensued. The release does not say what, specifically, he was arguing about.

But at any rate, Sisk says, Perez then shot Palmer in the back of the upper leg, ran into his house and hid a gun in the attic. Officers and EMS workers responded to the house at 1:10 p.m. They found Palmer, 38, lying in the yard. Doctors later treated him for non-life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office arrested Perez, 40, and charged him with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
