Disabled man found living in toxic conditions, suffering from open wounds, active insect infestation

A 45-year-old man who was bedridden due to medical issues is in intensive care after he was found suffering from open wounds, active insect infestation and extremely poor living conditions.

Emergency officials responded to a medical emergency at 205 Mason Road in Crandall, Ga., on Sunday and reported the victim's condition to the Murray County Sheriff's Office.

Conditions inside the residence were so toxic Murray County investigators and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents were forced to wear a Tyvek suit and a breathing apparatus.

Lisa Alexander, 46, was arrested and charged with neglect of a disabled adult, reckless conduct and six counts of cruelty to animals.

Law enforcement is working with Murray County authorities to condemn the property.
