East Ridge and Chattanooga police responded to a shots fired report about 9 p.m. Sunday at the Speedway on the 4200 block of Ringgold Road, where one victim was confirmed.

A blue Nissan Versa taped off at a gas pump was riddled with bullet holes and its back windshield was blown out, but authorities learned soon the shots were fired in Brainerd.

Jessie Crawford, an employee at the gas station said he didn't hear any shots fired. He heard the shooting happened elsewhere, and the people drove to the gas station after being shot at. All he heard was the people screaming after they pulled up, he said.

Homicide detective Chris Blackwell said the shooting victim was male. He was taken to a local hospital and his condition is unknown.

A distressed juvenile male, who was in the car when the shots were fired, said the car was stopped at a stop sign by a church on McBrien Road when they were shot at. Police then pulled the juvenile away from media for further questioning.

Blackwell confirmed at the scene that the shooting happened off of McBrien Road. Hamilton County 911 logs show that a report of shots fired was made just before 9 p.m. at 211 McBrien Road in Chattanooga.

No further details are available at this time.
