Staffing at the Hamilton County Assessor of Property's office will be limited Tuesday afternoon as employees pay last respects to longtime assessor Bill Bennett. He died Friday at age 82 after battling cancer.
Current assessor Marty Haynes said in a news release that staff will be limited between noon and 3 p.m.
"Many of the employees in the office were hired and worked for the beloved Bill Bennett. His funeral will allow the employees to pay their respects to their former boss, friend and mentor," Haynes said in the release.
He also said Hamilton County "lost a true friend and leader with the passing of Bill Bennett" and called him a "trusted mentor and advisor in my first two years in office as Assessor."
