Chattanooga police investigating infant death

An investigation in underway in the death of a 9-month-old child on Sunday, according to Chattanooga police.

Chattanooga police were called to the 1000 block of West 37th Street just after 11:30 a.m. and found someone giving CPR to the baby boy.

The boy was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators with the department's violent crimes and special victims unit along with Child Protective Services conducted the preliminary investigation.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's office.
