A big rig overturned this morning just before 7 a.m. on Interstate 24 East at the interchange with U.S. Highway 27 North, shutting down the eastbound lanes of I-24.
Eastbound traffic is being detoured while westbound traffic is unaffected, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation SmartWay map.
The crash happened at 6:54 a.m. and is expected to be cleared by around 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, a second crash involving an overturned 18-wheeler is causing traffic problems near Monteagle, also on the eastbound side of I-24 with the right lane blocked, traffic maps show.
That crash happened at 4:50 a.m. and is expected to be cleared soon. Westbound traffic there is unaffected, as well.
