Chattanooga announces holiday trash, recycling pickup schedule

Chattanooga's Public Works Department has announced its garbage and recycle collection schedule for the upcoming holidays.

Garbage and recycling will be collected as scheduled on Monday, Christmas Eve. Collections scheduled the rest of the week will be delayed one day, according to a news release.

So collections scheduled for Christmas Day will be collected Wednesday. Collections scheduled for Thursday will be moved to Friday, and Friday's to Saturday.

Garbage and recycle collection will be on normal schedules for Jan. 1, New Year's Day.

The city's recycle and refuse collection centers will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and will reopen on Wednesday. They will also be closed Jan. 1 and reopen Jan. 2.

The same schedule applies to the household hazardous waste facility and wood recycling center on North Hawthorne Street and the city landfill off Birchwood Pike.
