Chattanooga police confirm that officers and a department bomb technician responded to the area of Hickory Manor Circle and Georgetown Lane earlier today on a possible bomb threat.

"It's been cleared," CPD spokeswoman Elisa Myzal said about 1 p.m. via email. Myzal said the bomb technician has left the scene and is en route back to the station on Amnicola Highway.

The scene was in a subdivision off of Hickory Valley Road near State Route 153 and Lee Highway.

The call was the result of an unexpected package delivery to a home in the area, Myzal said.

"Turned out to be a briefcase filled with paper," she said.
