Victim identified in fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 60 near Meigs County

UPDATE at 5:31 p.m. on Friday: The victim in the crash has been identified as Stephen D. Allen of Ooltewah, Tenn., according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

According to traffic investigators, a Toyota Camry was pulling onto Highway 60 from a private drive when it pulled in front of the Harley Davidson motorcycle that Allen was driving. Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY: A car crash in the 5100 block of Highway 60 near Meigs County left a motorcyclist dead Thursday afternoon, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The 911 call came at around 4:30 p.m. reporting a wreck involving a motorcycle and a car, a news release states. The driver of the car did not sustain any injuries.

Preliminary reports indicate the motorcycle crashed into the car, resulting in the driver of the motorcycle being thrown from the bike. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene upon arrival.

Investigators are currently investigating the cause of the accident.

The name of the deceased motorcyclist is not being released as deputies are still making proper notification of next-of-kin.
