Ice is being blamed for two early morning accidents Friday in Soddy-Daisy.

The first accident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. when a driver traveling south on Dallas Hollow Road near Short Leaf Lane hit a patch of ice and lost control of her vehicle, according to a news release. The vehicle hit the guard rail on the right side of the road and then went back onto the roadway, across the double yellow line, ending up in the ditch on the northbound lane.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Shortly after, a second accident occurred when another vehicle hit the same patch of ice, leaving a truck on its top. The driver was uninjured.

The sheriff's office said freezing temperatures overnight and into the morning caused water on the road to freeze, causing both crashes, according to the release.
