FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The communications director for the House Republican Caucus in Kentucky has lost her job nearly one year after she sued the state saying she was punished for reporting sexual harassment involving GOP lawmakers.
Daisy Olivo was let go on Friday, according to her attorney. She was fired one day after House Republicans elected new leaders for the upcoming 2019 legislative session.
Olivo filed a lawsuit last year alleging state officials took away her job responsibilities after she reported an inappropriate relationship between former House Speaker Jeff Hoover and another woman who once worked for the caucus. That lawsuit is still pending.
Acting House Speaker David Osborne declined to comment.
Olivo's attorney, Shane Sidebottom, said her firing is disappointing. He said Olivo's legal team is exploring her options.
