One man has been arrested in last week's College Hill Courts stabbings.

Barron White, 44, is accused of stabbing Oscar Billups, 57, on Oct. 3 about 10:38 p.m. after White refused to leave the porch of an apartment in the 800 block of West 14th Street.

White and Billups began arguing when White refused to leave, a witness told police, and Billups then slapped White on the head.

That's when White stood up and grabbed Billups and began stabbing him, the witness told police. The two fell to the ground, and Billups managed to take the knife from White and then began stabbing White.

The two were taken to a local hospital where they were initially in critical condition.

At the scene, police found a bloody folding knife and a blood-soaked shirt on a neighboring front porch.

Based on the evidence and statements gathered, police believe White pulled his knife and stabbed Billups first.

White is charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault. He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on a $60,000 bond.

White has an arrest history in Hamilton County dating back to 1993, according to online court records. His charges range from several assaults to lower-level misdemeanors like disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating, and anyone with any information is asked to call 423-698-2525.
