Traffic was backed up on Interstate 24 westbound from downtown Chattanooga to the I-24/I-75 split early Tuesday evening, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway website.
A vehicle crash combined with an increased amount of traffic appeared to be the cause.
The crash blocked the right lane of I-24 westbound just before downtown Chattanooga and was cleared by about 7 p.m. I-24 eastbound traffic was affected with no delays.
