Bradley County man charged after allegedly stabbing father during fight

A Bradley County, Tennessee, man has been charged with domestic assault after allegedly stabbing his father during an argument early Thursday.

Responding to a call around 2:47 a.m., deputies with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office arrived at a home on Eagle Park Drive and found a 55-year-old man with stab wounds to the neck and chest, according to a news release.

The victim was treated at the scene before being transferred to Tennova Hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee, then to Erlanger in Chattanooga. He is listed in stable condition, the release states.

The suspect, 33-year-old Christopher Anthony West, was detained and questioned at the scene.

During the investigation, deputies learned that the victim and a witness are West's parents and lived at the home.

West had arrived at the home in an attempt to defuse an argument between his parents, the release states. But the fight escalated and the two went outside to fight.

During the altercation, West pulled out a Swiss Army pocket knife and stabbed his father twice. Afterward, he applied pressure to the wounds while his mother called 911, the release states.

West was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated domestic assault. He is being held in the Bradley County Jail where he awaits an arraignment Friday. No bond has been set.

The investigation is ongoing.
