1.9 magnitude quake shakes Aetna Mountain in East Marion County

A magnitude 1.9 earthquake struck Aetna Mountain in Marion County, Tennessee, about mid-morning Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake's estimated epicenter was a little less than a mile west of the Riverside community along the Tennessee River or about 10.5 miles west of Chattanooga. It was about 12.5 miles beneath the earth's surface and struck about 10:15 a.m. Sunday, USGS officials said.
