An officer with the Ringgold City Police Department was arrested Monday for aggravated sexual assault and two other charges.
Blake Ballew, 27, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and is also being charged with false imprisonment and a violation of his oath of office.
On Thursday at about 2 p.m., GBI's Calhoun office was contacted by the Varnell Police Department to assist in a sexual assault investigation involving Ballew after a woman reported an incident.
GBI arrested Ballew Monday after conducting interviews, reviewing physical evidence and consulting with the Lookout Mountain District Attorney's Office.
Ballew was booked into the Catoosa County jail without incident. The investigation is active and ongoing.
