A board of law enforcement administrators in North Georgia named DeWayne Brown commander of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force last week.

The task force consists of officers and deputies from other departments and runs drug investigations in Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties. Before this appointment, Brown served as deputy commander of the task force for 5-1/2 years.

The board that oversees the task force and appointed Brown includes the sheriff's of the three counties, Fort Oglethorpe Police Chief Mike Helton, LaFayette Police Chief Bengie Clift and Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force Herbert "Buzz" Franklin.

Brown replaces Pat Doyle, who served as commander of the task force until his death Dec. 30 from complications from skin cancer.
