Calhoun, Ga., officer injured in high-speed chase Tuesday morning

A police officer was injured slightly when he crashed his patrol car during a high-speed chase early Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Calhoun, Georgia, Police Department.

Police spokeswoman Sharon Jolley said the chase began just after 12:04 a.m. when the officer saw a vehicle traveling without headlights on North Wall Street in Calhoun. The officer tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver sped away. The chase moved onto Interstate 75 and the fleeing driver got away when the officer crashed his patrol vehicle.

The release said the officer, whose name was not released, received minor injuries and will fully recover.

The pursuit was captured on video and supervisors are reviewing the disk in hopes of identifying the driver.
