Former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts announced Wednesday afternoon that he will play the 2019 season at Oklahoma as a graduate transfer.

Lincoln Riley's Sooners have produced the past two Heisman Trophy winners - Baker Mayfield in 2017 and Kyler Murray this past season.

"To my about-to-be family in Norman, I truly appreciate you for bringing me on board," Hurts said in a post on The Players' Tribune website. "Y'all don't know me yet, but just for now, to introduce myself - I'm a motivated coach's son from the east side of Houston, and I love to play ball.

"And to my Bama family, once again, THANK YOU - for everything. It's been a great three years. I'll love you until the end of time!"

Hurts was the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year as a freshman in 2016, and he quarterbacked Alabama to appearances in the national title games in both the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He was replaced, however, by Tua Tagovailoa in the championship game of the 2017 season and was the backup to Tagovailoa this past season.

Hurts did replace an injured Tagovailoa in last month's SEC championship contest against Georgia and rallied the Crimson Tide from a 28-21 deficit to a 35-28 win.

He will have one season of eligibility with the Sooners.
